With a third-place finish by the 400 yard freestyle relay of Antonio Lanzi, Aaron Durrence, Martin Leigh, and Mason Miller, the University at Buffalo secured second place at the Mid-American Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich.
The Bulls earned 54 team points in the 3-meter dive to move into second place and the relay held that spot by beating Missouri State by a margin of .26 seconds.
It’s UB’s best finish at the MAC Championships since a second place in 2012.
Troy Birdsall finished third in the 3-meter dive to lead the Bulls effort in that event.
The UB team broke broke four school records at the Championships and placed six individuals on the All-MAC teams. Itai De La Vega and Miller were named All-MAC First Team, while Charles Barry, Scott Huang, Lanzi, and Reid Zyniecki earned second team.
