Ever wondered if chatting over a drink would make for a mellower job interview?
You could find out at the Marcy Casino on Monday.
A burst of restaurant openings across Buffalo is leaving even experienced restaurateurs struggling to fill open positions in dining rooms, kitchens and bars. The competition between restaurants to hire the best staff has come to this: One of the largest independent restaurant groups in Buffalo is offering a pint and a snack to applicants at a job fair.
“We want to do something fun and outside the box to attract industry staff that might have a job but are looking for more opportunity,” said Jason Davidson.
More than 200 positions will be available at the Buffalo Food and Drink family of restaurants, including Coles, Brennan’s Bowery Bar, Moorpat, Allen Burger Venture, Blue Monk, Roux, the reopening Liberty Hound, upcoming Thin Man Brewery and renovated Colter Bay.
“We're a growing group that's always searching for Buffalo's best,” said Davidson, who credited the happy hour idea to partner Mike Shatzel. The company also runs events at Marcy Casino, 199 Lincoln Parkway, in Delaware Park. “With three new locations and the Liberty Hound summer staff up we need to recruit 200-plus professionals.”
Interested parties should bring resumes, references and identification, Davidson said. Interview sessions will be from noon to 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
