The Sabres have sent Jamie McGinn to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick, according to several reports.
McGinn was Buffalo’s top trade asset with 14 goals and 27 points. After a quiet day across the NHL, the deal involving McGinn was one of several reported after the 3 p.m. trade deadline.
If the Ducks win two playoff rounds, the pick for the Sabres becomes a second-rounder. The Ducks have two third-round picks in this year’s draft but no second-round pick, so the year of the draft pick acquired is still to be determined.
The Ducks (34-19-8) are in second place in the Pacific Division, two points behind the Los Angeles Kings. Anaheim is just 22nd in scoring at 2.48 goals per game.
