GREEN EGGS AND HAM – Joining the observance of Dr. Seuss’ birthday at 10 a.m. Wednesday will be the Central Library on Lafayette Square in Buffalo. The celebration will include the reading of Dr. Seuss stories, as well as songs, giveaways and at least one special guest. Admission is free. Groups of six or more are asked to register by calling 858-7192.


STAMPS OF APPROVAL – The 200th anniversary of the incorporation of Buffalo as a village will be the theme when the Buffalo Stamp Club hosts the area’s oldest and largest stamp show Saturday and Sunday in Pvt. Leonard Post Jr. Post 6251, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 2450 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga.

The show, BUFPEX 2016, will feature about 15 dealers with a variety of stamps and other items, as well as a U.S. Postal Service booth with current stamps for sale at face value. Souvenir envelopes with a special postmark will be offered for sale.

Club members will have exhibits from their collections. Youngsters can get free stamps in the Children’s Corner. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free. For info, call George H. Gates at 633-8358.


DOWNSIZING – A free seminar on real estate topics for seniors, their loved ones and caregivers will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday in Brookdale Williamsville senior living community, 6076 Main St., Williamsville.

Leading the seminar will be licensed real estate broker Michael Olear, a member of the Olear Team at MJ Peterson Corp. Topics will include simplifying a living situation and legal and regulatory issues. To register, call Brookdale at 632-7132.


THE ART OF BREWING – More than two dozen local craft breweries and nearly a dozen restaurants and caterers will collaborate for the 10th annual Art of Beer evening from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center in the former Niagara Falls High School, 1201 Pine Ave. at Porter Road.

Tickets are $30 through Thursday, $35 at the door, and include food and beer samples, a souvenir tasting glass and live music from Billy Draws Two, Turning Virtue, Bobby Skrzypek and the Pedestrians, and 2015 Hard Rock Rising Star winner Fiona Corinne. For tickets, call 282-7530 or visit
