History of Buffalo brewing

NORTH TONAWANDA – Ethan Cox, the co-author of “Buffalo Beer: the History of Brewing in the Nickel City will discuss the surge of breweries that entered the area during the 1800s in a Carrousel Chat from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum, 180 Thompson St. Admission to the program and the museum are free.

Some of the former breweries of that era, Simon Pure, Iroquois and Magnus Beck became successful companies.

Cox will also explore the more recent surge in microbreweries in the area.
