BATAVIA – A North Tonawanda man faces a long list of charges in four different jurisdictions after he led officers in a pursuit from the Town of Batavia to the City of Batavia and the Town of Darien on Saturday.
Richard J. Tomaino, 28, of Wheatfield Street was charged after the pursuit by the Genesee County Sheriff Department which began at 1:36 a.m. on Pearl Street Road. The sheriff department was assisted in the pursuit by City of Batavia Police, New York State Troopers and the Erie County Sheriff Department.
Tomaino was charged in the Town of Batavia with speeding, improper plate lamp, unsafe signal, failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation, and unlawfully fleeing police. He also faces charges in the City of Batavia and Town of Pembroke. He was stopped in the Town of Darien and additionally charged with failure to yield the right of way, following too closely, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned in the Town of Batavia and remanded to Genesee County Jail.
