Where we live: Elma/Marilla/Wales


The Boys and Girls Club of Elma, Marilla and Wales hosts its 34th annual auction Saturday at the club, 2080 Girdle Road.

Founded in 1974, the club offers activities for more than 1,500 children in the three towns.

Saturday’s event, which features baskets, gift certificates and more is the club’s biggest fund raiser, with last year’s event raising more than $35,000.

Individual tickets and tables of 10 can be reserved by calling the club, 652-9292.

Admission includes food, wine, beer and soda. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

This week:

• The Iroquois School Board conducts a budget work session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Middle School auditorium, 2111 Girdle Road, Elma.

• A Red Cross blood drive takes place Saturday at the Marilla Community Center, 1810 Two Rod Road, from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.

• The Elma Public Library, 1860 Bowen Road, hosts a “first weekend of the month” book sale in the community room during regular library hours Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
