Linus Ullmark was named the American Hockey League Player of the Week. The Rochester Americans’ goaltender stopped 97 shots allowed only three goals (a .969 save percentage) in back-to-back wins.
He stopped 43 shots in a 2-1 overtime game against Portland on Friday then made 51 saves in Syracuse on Saturday – the most by an AHL goaltender in a game this season. The Amerks defeated Syracuse, 6-2, with Tim Schaller recording his second career hat trick.
Jason Akeson had the overtime game-winner for Rochester on Friday. Then it was captain Cal O’Reilly who scored in OT on Sunday to give the Amerks a 3-2 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
With three straight wins, Rochester is back in playoff contention with a 26-24-2-1.
The Amerks play at Lake Erie on Thursday and at Toronto on Saturday.
Western Hockey League
Giorgio Estephan (Forward, Lethbridge) – Remains sidelined with a lower body injury. He has 63 points (27 goals) in 51 games.
Brendan Guhle (Defenseman, Prince Albert) – Had a goal and an assist in five games this week. Guhle now has 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists) this season.
Brycen Martin (Defenseman, Everett) – Recorded his 29th assist of the season on Sunday in a 4-1 win over Spokane.
Devante Stephens (Defenseman, Kelowna) – Has two goals, six assists and is a plus-9 in 60 games for the Rockets.
Ontario Hockey League
Eric Cornel (Forward, Peterborough) – Extended his point streak to six games with an assist in a 9-3 loss to North Bay on Sunday. Had four straight multi-point games from Feb. 13 to Feb. 19 scoring one goal with 10 assists in that span.
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
Vaclav Karabacek (Forward, Moncton) – Scored two goals on Feb. 17 and had a three-point week for Moncton. He now has 13 goals and 24 points on the season.
Will Borgen (Defenseman, St. Cloud State) – The freshman picked up his 11th assist of the season in a weekend sweep over Nebraska-Omaha.
Christopher Brown (Forward, Boston College) – The freshman has two goals and nine assists in 32 games.
Ivan Chukarov (Defenseman, UMass) – Scored his third goal of the season in a 4-2 loss to UMass-Lowell.
Hudson Fasching (Forward, Minnesota) – The junior has 18 goals and 15 assists for the Golden Gophers. He is on a four-game point streak heading into a two-game series with Michigan. Minnesota was idle last week.
Anthony Florentino (Defenseman, Providence) – Did not play in the weekend series against Notre Dame because of an upper body injury. Has 10 points (five goals and five assists) in 25 games.
Connor Hurley (Forward, Notre Dame) – The sophomore had no points as the Fighting Irish lost twice to Providence. He has five goals and 10 assists this season.
Jason Kasdorf (Goaltender, Rensselaer) – The senior gave up five goals on 42 shots in a loss to Quinnipiac on Friday then bounced back to pick up the win against Princeton on Saturday, allowing one goal with 19 saves.
Sean Malone (Forward, Harvard) – Scored his seventh goal of the season in a 2-2 tie with Cornell on Friday but did not play on Saturday.
Cal Petersen (Goaltender, Notre Dame) – Suffered back-to-back losses for the first time this season. He gave up three goals on 38 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to Providence on Friday. He then let in three goals on 31 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Friars on Saturday.
Judd Peterson (Forward, St. Cloud State) – The sophomore netted a short-handed empty-net goal in Saturday’s 6-3 win over Nebraska-Omaha. He has 14 goals and 20 points.
Max Willman (Forward, Brown) – The sophomore did not play this weekend. He has two goals and six assists.
Jonas Johansson (Goaltender, Almtuna IS) – Through 39 games has a 2.35 goals against average and a .915 save percentage.
Victor Olofsson (Forward, MODO) – Has 25 points with 13 goals in 42 games.
Gustav Possler (Forward, MODO) – Has seven goals and 14 assists in 45 games.
