Hey, basketball lovers: You don’t have to wait for March Madness to watch some quality basketball. Heck, you don’t even have to wait until next month to watch one of the best tournaments around.
Just head over to either SUNY Buffalo State or Jamestown Community College this week and for either $5 or $6, you’ll be able to more than get your quality round-ball fix during the Section VI championships.
Don’t snicker at the scholastic game. There are several scary good talents out there. Here’s a sample of the highlight reel from Monday’s first semifinal contest:
• Beyond half-court buzzer-beating three-pointer that hit nothing but net.
• Countless hustle plays.
• And, of course, a major talent in Jernard Jackson of Lew-Port impacting the outcome of the game throughout, including driving the length of the court and sinking the winning shot with 7 seconds left in a 68-67 triumph.
Championship Week is the most glorious time of the year in Section VI. Monday’s Lew-Port versus Starpoint Class A-2 boys semifinal provided the perfect start.
Don’t believe me? There’s still plenty of time to go see for yourself what all the hoopla is about.
