A front-loaded home schedule and non-conference games at Boston College and Nevada highlight the 2016 University at Buffalo football schedule, released Monday.
The Bulls play four of their first six games at home, a plus for fans who get to attend games in better weather. The Bulls also have to play only two mid-week Mid-American Conference night games, which are less popular with ticket-buying fans. Each of the past three years UB played three mid-week night MAC games.
Just like last year, UB opens the season against lower-division Albany, on Sept. 3. The Bulls play Nevada for a second straight season. UB travels to Reno, Nev., on Sept. 17.
The next two non-conference games are home vs. Army on Sept. 24 and at Boston College on Oct. 1.
UB plays its first two MAC games at home, against Kent State on Oct. 8 and Ball State on Oct. 15. The night MAC games both are on Thursdays, home vs. Akron on Oct. 27 and at Ohio on Nov. 3. The former is either on the CBS Sports Network or ESPN3. The latter is on the CBS Sports Network. There is only a five-day rest between UB's game at Northern Illinois on Oct. 27 and the Akron game.
UB's MAC road games figure to be tough. All are against teams that have been winning MAC programs in recent years. The regular season concludes with games at Western Michigan and Bowling Green.
