Traffic enforcement will make city safer

I disagree with the current spin on the increased volume of traffic tickets written in Buffalo. Many drivers are aware only of their gas pedal and horn; they forget about the brakes. The last time I was rear-ended – while stopped at a red light – my assailant blew the horn, telling me to get out of the way.

When driving legally, the chance of receiving a ticket is very slight. Should we now mandate that the police check the economic and ethnic status of the stopped driver to ascertain whether a ticket should be written? The violation should be the governing factor.

Drivers have control over their tickets and fines. Drive legally and you do not pay fines. Hopefully Buffalo will be a safer city to drive in with the increased volume of tickets written.
