Garden Notes: News of area clubs and events

Willow Ridge Garden Club will celebrate its 50th anniversary and installation of officers at noon Tuesday in the Twentieth Century Club, 595 Delaware Ave.


Hamburg House and Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Hamburg United Methodist Church, 118 Union St., Hamburg. Donna Lippowicz, a student judge with the Western New York Orchid Society, will speak. Business meeting to follow. Contact Nancy Kalieta, 826-7462.


Amherst Garden Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. John Lutheran Church, 6540 Main St., Amherst. Paul Maurer, chairman of ReTree WNY, will speak. Guests and new members are always welcome.


The Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Erie County Master Gardener Program will hold a 2016 Education Day from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 12 at the Classics V Banquet & Conference Center, 2425 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst. The event is open to the public. Featured speakers include Kerry Ann Mendez, who will present “10 Tips for Growing a Beautiful and Sustainable Flower Garden” and “Three Seasons of Outrageous Color from Perennials,” and Don Leopold, who will present “Native Plants for Sustainable Landscapes.” Advanced registration is required. The fee is $30 for Erie County Master Gardeners, $45 for Master Gardeners from outside Erie County and $50 for the general public. Fee includes lunch and snacks. Space is limited.
