The Shamrock Run will begin in Buffalo’s Old First Ward at 10 a.m. March 12, an earlier start to this year’s race because of a 1 p.m. Buffalo Sabres game in First Niagara Center.
The race, which usually starts at noon, begins at Louisiana and O’Connell streets. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Old First Ward Community Association.
“We want to be a good neighbor, and be respectful of the Buffalo Police Traffic Division,” said association director Laura Kelly. “We’ll look forward to runner’s feedback as to whether they like the earlier start, or if we should return to a noon start in the future.”
Registration is $30 and includes a green, long-sleeve, moisture wicking shirt. Interested participants can register at buffaloshamrockrun.com or in person at the Old First Ward Community Center, 62 Republic St. Apparel is limited to the first 4,500 registrants. Registration will be closed after 5,500 people sign up.
