NIAGARA FALLS –Dads have been invited to accompany their children to school in the first in a series of “Dads and Donuts” event beginning at 9:10 a.m. Friday in the Henry J. Kalfas Magnet School, 1730 Beech Avenue.
The new event follows the successful Dads Take Your Kids to School Day held last fall. The expanded event was suggested by Niagara County Legislator Owen Steed, a former Kalfas dad, as a way to bring back the dads for parent-related topics with school staff and build camaraderie over doughnuts and coffee.
Representatives from the Greater Niagara Federal Credit Union will be available Friday to discuss programs to help families save money for their child’s future and education.
The statewide Dads Take Your Child to School program is based on research that shows that children who have fathers that are involved in their educational lives achieve higher skill levels in academics and have better outcomes in behavior and social skills.
