What is candidates’ plan for toxic water in Flint?
The year was 1986. A skating rink in New York City’s Central Park was nearing completion but was bogged down by government delays. One of our current presidential candidates stepped in and had that skating rink finished in no time. He boasted about saving money and time and knowing how to get the job done.
In 2016, Flint, Mich., located in the richest and strongest country in the world, is in dire need of extreme “stepping in” due to lead in the drinking water. I haven’t heard the candidates move this issue to the forefront of their campaigns, offering solutions and a plan if they were elected. Instead, we hear all of their insults, rude comments, blame games and evasive answers.
Aren’t we better than this? According to the aforementioned candidate, “You can always get the job done through sheer force of will.” Where is the will of state and federal officials and our presidential candidates?
