Buffalo Film League, a digital media company, will make North Tonawanda’s historic Wurlitzer building its new media production and film consortium headquarters.
The company is in the process of producing and distributing a feature documentary about the fall and rise of the Queen City called “Buffalo Hates You, Too: A Love Story.” Its media consortium is a sort of labor force clearinghouse, assembling and mobilizing a freelance workforce for outside film projects.
Lumber City Brand Works will also locate at the Wurlitzer building, 908 Niagara Falls Blvd. It is Buffalo Film League’s sister company and media branding division, which creates advertorial content for corporate clients.
One of Lumber City Brand Works’ clients, UFIT THRIVE, will take space at the Wurlitzer building, too. The Pennsylvania-based company develops diabetes treatment programs.
The sprawling complex was originally the North Tonawanda Barrel Organ factory. It was bought by Wurlitzer Co. in 1908, producing world-renowned theater organs and jukeboxes before closing in 1973.
Today, Wurlitzer Industrial Park is a retail, warehouse and industrial space hosting several small businesses, including a bookstore and archery range.
