NIAGARA FALLS – Yvonne Minor-Ragan, former principal of Buffalo’s Westminster Community Charter School and a member of the board of Buffalo Promise Neighborhood, will be the keynote speaker at the ninth annual Black History Celebration and luncheon at 11:30 a.m.Feb. 19 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, 621 Tenth St.
“Getting to the Heart of the Matter,” a presentation on healthy living by Dr. Jeffery Maguire and nurse practitioner Michelle Sneed, will precede the luncheon at 10:30. Health screenings and wellness information will be provided.
The program also will include community service recognition for W. Lee Whitaker, retired public housing manager with the Niagara Falls Housing Authority and a member of the Niagara Falls Human Rights Commission, and Carlton Cain, deputy superintendent of police in Niagara Falls and a former president of the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club and the Niagara Police Athletic League.
