People interested in becoming foster parents can learn about training and speak to foster parents and former foster children at the second annual Foster Family Fair from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Science Hall Commons at Canisius College. Admission is free.
Thirteen social service agencies from Erie and Niagara counties will take part in the program. Foster parents must be at least 21 and can be single, married, divorced, widowed or living with a partner. More information is available at FosterFair.com.
Michele Pfeffer, director of adoption and specialized services for the Erie County Department of Social Services, said the fair will “help individuals find out if fostering a child is for them and to connect them with agencies that offer foster training and placement. The need for foster parents has never been greater. We are searching for homes for approximately 100 children every month.”
