Three store clerks charged in Niagara County underage alcohol sting

LOCKPORT – Three store clerks in Niagara County were charged with misdemeanors Saturday, as underage operatives recruited by local police tried to buy alcoholic beverages.

The Sheriff’s Office said the alcohol enforcement detail, organized jointly with the State Police and the State Liquor Authority, tested 18 stores between 5 and 10 p.m. Saturday. At 15 stores, the buyers were denied alcohol.

Charged with prohibited sales and first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child for selling to the underage customers were Kapil Sharma, 26, of Niagara Falls, working at the Hyde Park Mini Mart on Hyde Park Boulevard, Niagara Falls; Kaur K. Sandhu-Harneet, 19, of Grand Island, working at the Valero store on Military Road in the Town of Niagara; and James D. Wilgosz, 34, of Niagara Falls, working at the 7-Eleven store on Plaza Drive in Wheatfield.
