TOWN OF NIAGARA – Col. Brian S. Bowman will be installed as the new commanding officer of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station at a ceremony at the base Saturday afternoon.
Bowman takes over the 914th Airlift Wing of the Air Force Reserve from Col. Daniel Sarachene, who has been acting commander. Bowman arrives in the Falls from Texas, where he was group commander of the 340th Flying Training Group at San Antonio-Randolph Air Force Base. He was in charge of 800 personnel in seven squadrons at multiple locations.
Bowman is a command pilot with more than 3,600 hours of flying experience in fighter, tanker and training planes, including combat experience in Operation Southern Watch, which involved enforcement of a no-fly zone in southern Iraq after the 1991 Gulf War.
Maj. Gen. Stayce Harris, commander of the 22nd Air Force, will preside over the ceremony, to be held in front of the entire unit in formation.
