The Charter School of Inquiry (CSI) will hold an open house on Tuesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for parents of children entering kindergarten through third-grade.
There will be an interactive conversation with parents about inquiry-based learning organized by Peter Dow at 6 p.m. Dow is a CSI founder and board member and co-founder of First Hand Learning, a non-profit corporation dedicated to inquiry-based learning, teacher professional development and collaboration between cultural institutions and schools.
The open house event also will include classroom visitations, meetings with teachers and refreshments.
In addition to an inquiry-based curriculum, instructional elements at CSI include a focus on literacy across all subject areas, collaborative team teaching with a teacher and teaching assistant in each classroom supported by a literacy coach and longer school day and year.
CSI, which is located at 404 Edison Ave., opened last August.
