Only two girls volleyball players from New York State made the PrepVolleyball.com list of 150 All-Americans for the just completed season. One of them hails from Eden.
Junior Sam Burgio, the Gatorade State Player of the Year, made it onto the exclusive list for best in the nation. The Maryland commit finished the season with 646 kills, 510 digs and 140 aces in helping the Raiders win their seventh straight state championship.
To be selected to PrepVolleyball.com's All-American list, a player has to be one of the top three in the state regardless of school size.
The 5-foot-10 Burgio is a two-time all-state tournament selection and earned MVP honors in the 2014 tourney.
