GREENFELD, Marvin Bernhardt
GREENFELD - Marvin Bernhardt On Thursday, January 21, 2016, in Brooklyn, NY. Marvin Bernhardt Greenfeld was born on March 5, 1925, in Eden, NY, son of the late Isadore and Ida Greenfeld. Raised in Buffalo, he graduated from Buffalo Technical High School in 1943 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving during WWII and attaining the rank of Corporal. After his discharge, he attended the University of Michigan on the GI Bill and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While at the University of Michigan, he met Renee Schneider, whom he married and with whom he had three children, Lawrence, Anne, and Stephen. His career as an electrical engineer took him and his family to Dayton, OH; South Bend, IN; Ann Arbor, MI; Baltimore, MD, and the Washington, D.C. area. His final years were spent in New York City, near his son Stephen. He was throughout his life a kind, generous, and highly intelligent man, a lover of jazz and classical music, a skilled trumpet player, and an inveterate punster. He was pre-deceased by his parents; his sister, Sylvia Greenfeld Simon-Ray; his first wife, Renee; his second wife, Marilyn Bartick; his son, Lawrence; and his nephew, Sheridan Simon. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his son, Stephen Greenfeld (Alice) of New York City; his daughter, Anne Greenfeld (Mel) of Cincinnati; his nieces, Esther Shkolnik (Leon) of Amherst and Beth Swartz (Andrew) of Slingerlands, NY; his nephews David Simon (Elena) of Hamden, CT; and Joseph Simon (Annette) of Orchard Park; his niece-in-law, Rose Simon of Winston-Salem, NC; and his stepdaughter, Melissa Bartick. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 29, 2016, at Judean Memorial Gardens Chapel, 16225 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney, MD. Interment will follow in Judean Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
