Man accused of violating Seneca Nation order of protection

PERSIA – A 37-year-old man was arrested after he violated an order of protection by going to a family member’s home, state police reported.

State Police and Seneca Nation marshals arrested Keith Young of Burning Springs Road on Friday. He is charged with criminal contempt of a court order and criminal mischief.

Young went to the family member’s home Friday morning, believing he would be able to stay there, according to state police. When Young was warned that there was an order of protection from the Seneca Nation of Indians Peacemakers Court, directing him to stay away from the home, he became upset and broke a glass table in a breezeway of the home.

Seneca marshals first arrived on the scene and later were joined by state troopers, who determined that he had violated a court order.

Young was arraigned in Persia Town Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. The incident occurred on the Seneca Nation’s Cattaraugus Territory.
