Falls traffic stop yields revolver, ammunition and marijuana

NIAGARA FALLS – A burned-out taillight led to a traffic stop early Saturday, when police confiscated three bags of marijuana, a .22-caliber revolver and a sockful of ammunition. Three men were taken into custody.

The incident occurred about 1:45 a.m. in the 1800 block of 18th Street, police said. After spotting a live .22 round on the driver’s side floor of the vehicle, police said they removed all three men from the car and searched it, finding the revolver hidden beneath the driver’s seat. The .22-caliber ammunition in a sock also was discovered, police said.

The driver, Alfred M. Maye Jr., 24, of 18th Street, and Andrew M. Lyons, 23, of Seventh Street and Shaquille O’Neill King, 22, of Cleveland Avenue were charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.
