LOCKPORT – A Town of Niagara man pleaded not guilty in Niagara County Court Friday to an indictment accusing him of bludgeoning a Niagara Falls man in the head with a blunt object last year.
Cory Lewis, 27, of Tuscarora Road, is charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is accused of striking Clifford Kendzia of Kendzia Tire on Niagara Falls Boulevard on March 21, causing facial fractures and a head injury, Deputy District Attorney Doreen M. Hoffmann said. Lewis, who wasn’t arrested until Oct. 1, was freed on a $5,000 bail bond.
Hoffmann said it appeared to be a landlord-tenant dispute pertaining to apartments near the tire store.
