A lawsuit filed by the family of a University at Buffalo medical resident who fell to his death at a downtown nightclub is being withdrawn.
Rajan Verma, 28, died after he lost his balance and fell while trying to ride a stairway bannister at the Tralf Music Hall two years ago. Verma’s family sued the club’s owners and managers for $2.5 million, contending that the fall was not entirely his fault.
The family claimed the Tralf attached a “sticky substance” to the bannister in order to increase friction and deter visitors from sliding down it. Unfortunately, the sticky substance also caused Verma to lose his balance and fall, the family says.
Earlier this week, a lawyer for the Vermas filed papers in Buffalo federal court indicating the suit is being voluntarily dismissed, but gave no explanation for why.
