Eating a biscuit, speeding and slick roads to blame for one-car crash

POMFRET – A Dunkirk man facing drunken driving charges after a one-car crash on Thursday told a state trooper he was eating a biscuit when he lost control of his vehicle on snow-covered roads while driving too fast.

State Police charged Ryan Slate, 21, after a crash near Route 20 and Farel Road where Slate’s vehicle ended up on the front lawn of a home.

Slate had a blood-alcohol content of .15 percent, almost twice the legal limit of .08 percent. He faces driving while intoxicated charges and is due in Pomfret Town Court on Feb. 9.
