DOT to install traffic signal at I-190 and Packard Road

TOWN OF NIAGARA – Assemblyman John Ceretto, D-Lewiston, announced Friday that the state Department of Transportation will install a traffic signal later this year at the intersection of Interstate 190 southbound and Packard Road in the Town of Niagara. The busy intersection is near the Fashion Outlets mall and the Military Road commercial strip.

After repeated urgings from town officials, the DOT analyzed traffic patterns and decided a signal was needed.

Ceretto said, “I’d like to thank Niagara Town Supervisor Lee Wallace and Town Clerk Sylvia Virtuoso for their tireless efforts in advocating for and protecting the members of this community.”

“It’s a relief knowing that people will be safer driving in that intersection, which has been known to be dangerous,” Wallace said.

“It’s great to hear after our persistent efforts that DOT has decided to go through with this project,” Ceretto said. “To ensure the safety of residents, I hope this important project is completed in a timely fashion.”
