LOCKPORT – The deadline for nine Niagara County department heads to submit resumes in order to try to keep their jobs has been extended by two weeks, County Manager Jeffrey M. Glatz said Thursday.
Friday was the deadline set after County Legislature Chairman W. Keith McNall directed that the 10 had to reapply to keep their jobs under Glatz’ successor. Glatz is resigning as of March 31, and Wednesday is the application deadline for manager.
The new Feb. 12 deadline was set at the request of some of the incumbents. “There were some people who wanted to work on their resumes,” Glatz said.
The same application deadline applies to outsiders who want to be considered for department head posts. Glatz said he has received “five or six resumes for three positions,” but none so far from incumbents.
The job postings are advertised on the county’s website. The original announcement included probation director on the list of jobs to be filled, but that post is not listed on the website. Those that are include public works commissioner, deputy public works commissioner for engineering, and the directors of budget, human resources, risk and insurance, employment and training, buildings and grounds, information technology and aging.
