Two Batavia residents arrested for alleged drug trafficking

BATAVIA – The separate arrests of two Batavia women suspected of drug trafficking were announced Tuesday by the Genesee County Local Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelly M. Howell, 30, of Otis, was charged with felony counts of fifth-degree criminal possession and criminal sale of controlled substances Tuesday. Howell, who surrendered to task force officers, is accused of selling controlled substances to an undercover agent of the task force. He was remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Monday Lena M. Evans, 28, of Vine Street, was arrested on Jackson Street and charged with misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument for allegedly having illegal pain pills and several hypodermic needles. She was issued appearance tickets for Feb. 9 in Batavia City Court.

The Genesee County District Attorney’s Office assisted task force members in both arrests, officials said.
