Esteemed business media company Forbes has published a list of "2016's 10 Happiest Cities to Work," and Buffalo squeaked onto the list.
Listed at No. 10 with the lowest average salary ($48,457), Buffalo stuck out in this study originally conducted by CareerBliss, a job-focused site that collects user-submitted data from independent employee reviews from across the country.
The criteria for this list were as follows: work-life balance, relationships with bosses and co-workers, general work environment, compensation, opportunities for advancement, company culture and resources.
Among the cities that beat Buffalo are San Francisco, Calif.; Brooklyn, NY; Arlington, Va.; Jersey City, NJ; and Miami, Fla., which finished atop the rankings for the second consecutive year.
Does this listicle's data surprise you?
Random note: Forbes' happiest city closest to Buffalo in average salary was Brooklyn ($53,907), which shocked me. A quick Google search and trip to Slate explained why.
