GUARINO, Charles John

GUARINO - Charles John 91 years young, of North Tonawanda, entered eternal life at home surrounded by his loving family under the care of Niagara Hospice. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish and a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran who served in the Panama Canal Zone and was a member of the LCI 558 Group. Chuck was a carpenter by trade. He was also known as an accomplished poet, gifted harmonica player, motivational fitness enthusiast, avid reader, antique collector and proud owner and trainer of Lance the Wonder Dog. Better known as Pa by those who loved him most, his larger than life presence and quick humor illuminated their world. Husband of the late Betty Rose (nee Miller) who was the love of his life; brother of the late Josephine (Nicholas) Panzarella, S. James Guarino and Louis (Frances) Guarino; loving father of Lynn (Paul) Mariani, Debi (David) DePaolo and Chuck (Carolyn) Guarino; brother of Rosalie (the late Joseph) Maria, Dolores (Vincent) Barbera, and sister-in-law Diane Guarino; proud grandfather of Alyse (Andrew) Webster, Alex and Paul John Mariani, Alison and Evan DePaolo and Matt, Rob and Zach Guarino and two great-grandchildren, Annika Rose and Calyan Vincent; also survived by many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. Friends and family are invited a Memorial Mass on Saturday morning at 10:00 at St. Jude the Apostle Parish. 800 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Memorials may be made to the Homes for Our Troops, 6 Main Street, Taunton, MA 07780. For many years before her passing, Chuck cared for his beautiful wife Betty during her long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was an example of loving tenderness that is impossible to describe. In Chuck's later years, he was cared for daily by his daughter, Debi, who devoted all the time necessary to care for him, showing the same love and kindness.
