NIAGARA FALLS – Area residents who used needles, syringes or lancets in their homes can safely dispose of them through the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s sharps program.
Needles, syringes and lancets, collectively known as sharps, are a concern for safety among family members, garbage collectors and in landfills.
The sharps program is a free service that operates weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sharps may be dropped off at the main reception desk, 621 10th St. or at the ER1 emergency department, 571 10th St.
All needles must be submitted in a puncture-resistant container, secured with a screw top and labeled with the words, “contains needles” or “biohazard.”
Needles should not be recapped, bent or clipped and should never be reused.
