Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels is seeking additional volunteer drivers and servers to allow for creation of an additional daily route after an increase in the number of clients.
The program, which delivers meals to homes of residents in need in the Town of Tonawanda, including the Village of Kenmore, has seen the number of clients increase from 246 to 273 in the past few months.
“We are in the process of redesigning our route system and expanding to twenty routes so that all our neighbors in need can receive meals without putting too many stops on a route for our volunteers to deliver meals efficiently,” said Executive Director Dan Wiles in a news release.
Drivers and servers are asked to report to Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels at 169 Sheridan Parkside Drive at 11 a.m. Meals are packed in coolers and hot bags for delivery and ready for release between 11 and 11:10 a.m.
Each route has approximately fifteen meals to deliver and is usually done within an hour. Drivers and servers bring the coolers and hot bags back to Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels when they are done and then can go home.
“If you have a heart for your community, want to give back, want something to do please consider joining us” said Tina Cascio, KTMOW Volunteer Coordinator.
