In a scene reminiscent of the book “The Bonfire of the Vanities,” a delivery driver for a South Buffalo manufacturing company got lost in the city’s Jefferson-East Ferry-Fillmore area and was beaten by four men he tried to ask for directions, Buffalo police reported Monday night.
The driver told Northeast District police that he spotted four young males and pulled his delivery truck over so he could ask for directions. When he got out of the vehicle and told them he was lost, they asked about his money and wallet before lunging toward him, according to the police report.
One male punched him in the lip, but the driver managed to fight off the youths and get back into the truck, without them taking anything from him. When he returned to work, supervisors there noticed the cuts on his knuckles and lip and called police.
