Beaver Island Golf Course is seeking new operator, concessionaire

Ever think about running a golf course?

Bids are open for golf and concessions at Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Preservation is asking for proposals from those interested in running food and beverage operations at the park, as well as its golf shop. It would include golf cart and equipment rentals and golf merchandise sales to serve Beaver Island Golf Course.

The contract would begin March 15 and last five seasons, with the possibility of extending it by an additional five seasons. Bids are due by 2 p.m. Feb. 23.

A new, $2 million pro shop is currently under construction to replace one destroyed by fire in 2012. Until that is completed, the golf shop operations will continue to be run out of the temporary location.

The 18-hole golf course, which opened in 1965, is a 6,645-yard par 72.
