Joseph F. Biondolillo, of Buffalo and Sarasota Fla., an attorney, businessman and former owner of Crystal Beach Amusement Park, died Jan. 16 in his Buffalo home after a lengthy illness. He was 76.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Canisius High School and LeMoyne College. He received his law degree from the University of Buffalo School of Law.
He married Ellen Mahoney, the daughter of State Sen. and Mrs. Walter J. Mahoney, in 1964. She died in 2012.
Mr. Biondolillo was admitted to practice law in New York State and Florida and served as corporate counsel to many in the business community. He became owner of Crystal Beach Amusement Park in 1983 until its close and was credited with the revival of the Crystal Beach Ballroom and the Canadiana boat. He later went on to form The Locke Group, LLC, a commercial real estate firm, until retiring to Sarasota.
He was active in politics in Buffalo’s Delaware District and Erie County in the 1980s and served as a strategist for politicians and corporate leaders.
Active in numerous civic, cultural, and charitable organizations, he was a 40-year member of the Saturn Club of Buffalo, where he served on many committees. He also was a member of the Buffalo Yacht Club, and Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club in Sarasota.
He is survived by two daughters, Holly MacFadyen and Cathryn Hibbard; a son, Daniel M.; a sister, Lucille Giardino; a brother, Charles; and six grandsons.
A celebration of life will take place at 10 a.m. Feb. 6 at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, 35 Edward St.
