Town of Tonawanda
How should underutilized and vacant parcels in the town’s western industrial section be redeveloped?
That will be the focus Thursday evening of the first public meeting about the Tonawanda Opportunity Area, which is defined as four miles of land along the Niagara River encompassing more than 2,000 acres.
The primary objective is to restore the properties to productive use and reconnect them to the waterfront through multi-modal transportation improvements such as roadways and biking and walking trails. Officials also hope to attract new businesses, jobs and an enhanced tax base for the town.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Noco Pavilion, 450 Ensminger Road. More information on the project is available at tonawandaopportunity.com.
