City of Tonawanda
City police officers may be looking scruffy lately, but it’s for a good cause.
Chief William Strassburg and the Police Benevolent Association agreed to let officers grow beards and goatees for the months of January and February in return for a donation to a departmental cause.
Officers will have raised close to $2,000 for the city’s Youth Court, DARE program, the Police Scholarship Fund and Underwater Squad, according to Capt. Fred Foels.
Officers will be clean shaven by March 1.
