Wheatfield man accused of attack on escort, theft of her car

WHEATFIELD – A Stenzel Avenue man accused of assaulting a female escort he called to his home early Thursday drove off in the woman’s car after she was able to break away from him.

Jeffrey W. Brown, 49, was arrested a short time later after crashing the car in a wooded area off Witmer Road, Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Brown, who also is a suspect in the earlier theft of a vehicle from his father’s home on Budd Road in Cambria, is charged with third-degree unlawfully fleeing police in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated, second-degree assault, reckless driving, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration. Additional charges are pending, deputies said. The suspect is currently being held without bail pending a Wednesday appearance in Wheatfield Town Court.

About 2:30 a.m., the victim arrived at the Stenzel Avenue address of Brown, who forced her inside and attacked her, deputies said. After a scuffle, in which a knife was drawn and pepper spray exchanged, the victim agreed to drive off with the suspect, deputies said. While leaving the house, she managed to escape to a nearby house and alert police, they added.

The victim was taken to DeGraff Hospital for evaluation, deputies said.
