Troopers: Drunk driver needed rescue from car buried in snow

KENDALL – A drunk driver whose blood-alcohol content was more than four times the legal limit drove into a ditch and needed help getting out of his car, in part because it was buried in snow, according to State Police.

Thomas J. Ballou, 63, had a BAC of .33, greater than four times the legal limit of .08 percent when he was arrested Wednesday, State Police said.

Ballou went off the road on Monroe Orleans County Line Road near Moscow Road and needed help getting out of the vehicle. The car was buried up to its doors in snow and Ballou was unable to stand without assistance. He was taken to Unity Hospital in Rochester for a precautionary evaluation, State Police said.

He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, failing to use a designated lane, speeding, failure to stop at a stop sign and a seatbelt violation. He’s due in Kendall Town Court on Feb. 15.
