Health aide accused of using credit card stolen from elderly client

Two people from Batavia, including a health care aide, face charges after $23,000 in purchases were made with a credit card stolen from an elderly victim.

Terry M. Roth, 40, and Michelle Hamill, 48, were charged with third-degree felony grand larceny. Roth was also charged with second-degree forgery.

Hamill worked as an aide in the victim’s home, police said.

The purchases were made in Erie, Genesee and Monroe counties.

Roth and Hamill were arraigned in Batavia Town Court. Roth was sent to the Genesee County Jail on $25,000 bail. Hamill was released under the supervision of Genesee Justice, a restorative justice program.
