Should there be a sports complex with ice rinks, an indoor fieldhouse and fitness center in Hamburg? Or more trails and parks?
The Town of Hamburg wants to know, and has an online recreation survey on its Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services website.
“There’s been some preliminary work on assessing the assets and deficiencies in our current parks and recreation areas and buildings. We would like to hear from the public to know what they think that we need,” said Martin Denecke, executive director of parks, recreation, senior and youth services.
Surveys can be downloaded until Jan. 31.
Other potential projects under consideration include a trail system connecting Village of Hamburg recreation areas with town parks, a fitness park and a trail at the town Recreation Center at the Nike Base in cooperation with Dani-Fit.
After the surveys are completed and the data processed, the town and its consultant, Wendel, will put together a plan and present it to the public.
Denecke hopes to have another public meeting in March, and present the plan to the public in May.
The town last updated its recreation master plan in 1994.
