WNY Flash goalkeeper Chantel Jones has announced her retirement from professional soccer. She was acquired from Washington before the 2015 season, and made 60 saves with two shutouts and a 1.65 goals-against average in 13 games with the Flash last season.
In other soccer competition, Jones played in Australia and Iceland. She represented the United States in the 2007 Pan American Games. Jones is a 2001 graduate of the University of Virginia.
“I want to thank the Flash organization for giving me a chance and believing in me, and, I also want to thank the Flash fans for welcoming me as if I had played for the club for years,” the 27-year-old Jones said. “I really appreciate everything this organization has done for me and wish them nothing but the best for the future.”
