Ex-owner of Falls restaurant gets probation in federal case

The former owner of a Niagara Falls restaurant was sentenced this week to one year of probation by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara,

Jing Lin, 35, who currently lives in North Carolina, had previously been convicted of making a false statement to federal authorities.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian J. Counihan said Lin operated the Jing Buffet Restaurant on Military Road and, during an inspection, made false statements about the number of people working for him and the citizenship status of his employees.

Lin’s sentencing is the result of an investigation by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations.
