Buffalo churches to collect water for Flint, Mich.

Buffalo churches are collecting water to send to residents of Flint, Mich., whose water is contaminated with lead.

True Bethel Baptist Church and several other churches in Buffalo and Syracuse will collect water during their Sunday morning services.

“Although we do not live in Flint, their plight is important to all of us,” said the Rev. Darius Pridgen, pastor of True Bethel.

The church at 907 E. Ferry St. will continue to collect water through Thursday evening.

Volunteers plan to drive the water bottles to Flint and help distribute them to those in need next weekend.
