Newfane drug dealer goes to prison for treatment

LOCKPORT – A Newfane man who didn’t quite finish a court-supervised drug treatment program will complete his treatment in state prison.

Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon told Brandon R. McKinney, 33, of Prospect Street, that if he doesn’t complete that program, he will serve three years in a regular prison cell, plus three years of post-release supervision.

McKinney pleaded guilty in July 2013 to selling heroin in Lockport Oct. 1, 2012.

The judge said McKinney made some progress in the judicial diversion program to which Sheldon assigned him, but after two years, he was ousted from the program.
