LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man, who was charged with beating his girlfriend’s 2 1/2-year-old son last year, took a plea offer Thursday.
Antonio M. Daniels, 22, of Willow Avenue, admitted to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree assault in exchange for a promise that he won’t have to go to state prison.
Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon still could send him to the County Jail for as long as a year when she sentences Daniels April 4.
When Daniels was arraigned Sept. 25, Deputy District Attorney Holly E. Sloma showed Sheldon a photo of the boy’s entirely purple buttocks, caused by a beating with Daniels’ bare hands on April 15.
Sheldon advised Daniels to enter parenting and anger management classes before he is sentenced.
