Buffalo man ordered to repay NT company for thefts

LOCKPORT – A former employee who stole $8,000 worth of merchandise from Armstrong Pumps, a North Tonawanda company, was placed on probation Thursday to improve his chances of being able to pay restitution.

John E. Liebert, 49, of Armin Place, Buffalo, will have to make payments of at least $100 a month during his five-year probation term, Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon ordered.

Liebert, who pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny, could have been sentenced to as long as four years in prison, and still risks that sentence if he doesn’t make the payments or if he otherwise violates probation rules. The thefts occurred between August 2012 and July 2014.
